Many purchasers aren't aware that the best antivirus software can be found from the published reports of independent testing and certification bodies..
Most people who want to buy security software do so from recommendations by friends, targeted sales and marketing hype, or, by reading recommendations in technical journals. However, those of you who have done just that know that every recommendation is different and... where is the proof that one product is better than another? Well, here I'll show you...
Top anti virus software will always be certified by one of the following three bodies...
For me, the distinguishing factor for deciding the best antivirus software has to be comparative testing -- that is, testing each piece of software against known and unknown malware straight out of the box and when the software is fully optimized. These organizations create a league table of antivirus software and Internet security suites at monthly and quarterly intervals, so it's pretty easy to pick out the consistently top-performing software.
Look out for AV-TEST and AV-Comparatives, the major security software testing organizations.
You can find out about the work the Certification and Comparative Testing Organizations do and how to access their reports in my article, The Best Antivirus Software... The Independent Testing Bodies.
Ratings from both the Certification and Comparative Testing bodies clearly show Kaspersky Anti-Virus has performed at the top of the competition -- not just recently, but for a number of years.
It's not just Kaspersky's antivirus program, either -- the Kaspersky Internet Security Suite has won accolades for its advances in technology, also.
So, let's see why Kaspersky is a game-changer...
AV-Comparatives compares antivirus software for DOS viruses/malware, Windows viruses, macro viruses, script viruses/malware, worms, Backdoors, Trojans (including keyloggers), other malware, including rootkits, and other OS viruses/malware. (To find out more about the different types of viruses, see my article, What Are Viruses and What Do They Do to Your Computer?).
After testing, AV software is classified according to the results as, 'Standard', 'Advanced', or 'Advanced+' -- the best antivirus software program being the 'Advanced+'.
There were only 3 antivirus software products to gain the coveted 'Advanced+' award for malware detection and removal... of which, of course, included, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013.
The other two were Bitdefender and Panda. However, these two have not been consistently at the top spot as Kaspersky has and a major consideration for you, also, is that more than 120 companies are licensing technology from Kaspersky Lab!!...
Kaspersky Lab has more than 120 global agreements for sharing its antivirus technology with companies including Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, Juniper Networks, Alcatel Lucent, Blue Coat, Check Point, D-Link, GFI, Gwava, Netgear, SonicWALL RSA, ZyXel, Alt-N, Parallels, Lenovo etc.
The Bitdefender engine is used in TrustPort Antivirus -- which combines BitDefender and AVG -- and G Data AntiVirus – which combines Kaspersky and BitDefender. In my research, I can't find any other products using the Panda engine.
The fact that the Kaspersky Anti-Virus engine is used in so many competitor's engines, SHOUTS loudly of the regard that this technology is held by its peers!
In summary, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013...
More and more Internet users are gravitating to Internet Security Suites because the bundle of antivirus, anti-spyware, firewall, anti-phishing, ID protection and more recently, system analysis and repair (the list of functions goes on!), offers great value over its individual counterparts. I use the Kaspersky Internet Security Suite myself now and I was a great proponent of 'separates'... that's how much these packages have now come on!
The most recent AV-TEST results showed Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 was one of the three best Internet Security Suites for protection and repair of malware.
The software includes...
